Scholarship Info

What is an education scholarship?

Education scholarships are an awesome perk of being a guild member! All eligible members receive an amount of money each year to put towards a fiber/craft related class of their choice to expand their knowledge and skills.

How much is the scholarship?

We’re super pumped to say that this guild year (2026 – 2025), the education scholarship has been bumped up to $75! That’s $75 you can put towards a fiber related class of your choice at any point throughout the year after becoming eligible. This is done on a reimbursement basis.

How do I become eligible?

Earning your education scholarship is easy! To qualify for the $75 scholarship, we ask that you participate 3 times throughout the year. You can double up in ways that you participate! For example, if you donate 2 things to be sold at the vendor booth, that is 2 participation points.

  • Participation can be in the form of:
    • Joining + Participating in a Committee (counts 1x)
    • Volunteer at a guild event (any x times)
    • Donate an item to the guild (any x times)
    • Participation in some other way! (teaching a class, leading an event, etc.)

How can I record my participation?

Any participation can be recorded at any time during the month via our NEW participation tracker form! Click below to access the form.

How can I track my eligibility?

You can view your eligibility and participation by viewing the dashboard below. Please reach out to officers with any questions!

How can I apply for reimbursement?

It’s easy! Just fill out the form below to apply for reimbursement. The guild will send you $75 back towards your class as long as you have an eligible receipt/proof of purchase.

Grant Info

Why a grant program?

This past year we have seen some amazing learning opportunities pop up from our members. Many took time to teach a class or demonstrate at a meeting, and some took on some super special projects! There was an English Paper Piecing Series, fantastic KALs, and more.

We want to foster continued member-to-member engagement and skill-building by introducing a Member Grant Program! Please read through the full description before applying.

What is the grant program?

The grant is for the purpose of demonstrating, teaching, or hosting an educational experience (singular or series). Any active guild member may apply for a grant if they identify an opportunity to do so.

How much is the grant?

The total grant pool for 2024 is currently set at $1,000.* Applicants may secure UP TO $200 per person, which will be paid upon the completion of the learning experience. Amounts may differ based on time, materials needed, etc. Some suggested amounts include:

  • $75 to demonstrate or teach at a guild meeting starting any time after February 2024
  • $200 to host a multi-week learning experience, like a KAL

Please note, you may still charge rates for a class or educational experience, but are expected to give a discount to guild members reflective of the grant support awarded.

What can I use the grant for?

Grants may be used for materials, time invested in planning the experience, or time invested while instructing.

What do I need to apply for the grant?

Applicants must list what the grant will be used for (materials costs, time compensation, etc), as well as how many hours the expect to spend preparing and leading their educational experience. Lastly, a summary of the class or experience being proposed is required.

All grant applications will be reviewed by the Committee Liaison and/or other officers of the board. Applicants will receive a response within 1 week of applying, and reviewers reserve the right to counter-offer a different grant amount, or decline the application.

*Officers of the guild maintain the right to change the total amount available in the grant pool based on availability according to the guild budget.

The 2024 grant program will be rolled out at the February guild meeting and will apply to any opportunities after that date. CRAFT FEST classes, workshops, or demos are NOT eligible for a grant.
